It Wasn’t Obama

President Trump recently mused that,

“I had spoken to a certain president (who I like, actually), a past president, a former president, and he said, I wish I did it, but then he didn’t do it. I’m doing it.”

Asked by reporters, he said, “I can’t tell you that. I don’t want to embarrass. Would be very bad for his career even though he’s got no career left.”

Reporters insisted. Was it George W. Bush? No! Was it Bill Clinton? I don’t wanna say.

“It’s somebody who happens to like me and I like that person who is a smart person. But that person said, I wish I did it,” would actually disqualify former President Barack Obama. Donald Trump certainly hates Obama. Obama certainly thinks of Trump as a severe risk for Democracy in the US.

But wait a minute. Obama was president of the US when the Green Movement was brutally cracked down in 2009 after the probably rigged re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The first in a depressing series up Iranian uprisings which culminated in January this year with the killing, by thugs of the regime, of thousands if not tens of thousands in the streets of Tehran and other major cities.

In October 2022, Obama gave an interview to Crooked Media when he mentioned Iran. Here’s a link to CNN Meanwhile in America, which reported on the interview.

“When I think back to 2009, 2010, you guys will recall there was a big debate inside the White House about whether I should publicly affirm what was going on with the Green Movement, because a lot of the activists were being accused of being tools of the West and there was some thought that we were somehow gonna be undermining their street cred in Iran if I supported what they were doing,” Obama said. “And in retrospect, I think that was a mistake.”

“Every time we see a flash, a glimmer of hope, of people longing for freedom, I think we have to point it out. We have to shine a spotlight on it. We have to express some solidarity about it.”

CNN reports, that “Obama later toughened his position, but was accused of pulling his punches to avoid complicating the path to a nuclear deal with Tehran (that he eventually achieved in 2015).”

This Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA, nuclear deal, reached with permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany on one side and Iran on the other, was in fact Obama’s master piece. For that alone, P5+1 would have deserved a Nobel Peace Prize. Of course, Iran, as a negotiating partner, could never have been awarded the prize along with P5+1. After all, an inhumane regime spreading terror across the region for decades. So, maybe that’s the only reason why Obama did not receive the second prize.

So, when it wasn’t Bush Jr., Clinton, Obama (certainly not Biden), who was it who talked to Donald Trump about Iran?

Meanwhile all living former US presidents have denied to have talked about Iran with Donald Trump recently.

I had in mind that Donald Trump may have dreamed of Jimmy Carter recently, another Nobel Peace Prize laureate, darn.
